Mansfield Town's youth team return to action with a trip to York City in the EFL Youth Alliance on Saturday morning (04 March, 11.00am kick-off).
Our youngsters have been without a league fixture since 11 February when they triumphed over local rivals Notts County thanks to goals from strikers Jason Law and Nyle Blake, as well as an own goal.
The victory over the Magpies cemented their place at the top of the league, but they have since been knocked off top spot by title challengers Oldham Athletic.
The Latics are above John Dempster's side on goal difference, but do have a game-in-hand which could see them move three points ahead of the Stags.
Saturday's opponents York City are in fourth place in the EFL Youth Alliance, seven points behind Stags and are currently on a decent run of form.
The Minstermen have won their last three games against Burton Albion, Lincoln City and Scunthorpe United and will go into the clash with the Stags in high spirits.
Despite not being scheduled a league fixture for three weeks, Stags have remained match sharp by organising a friendly against Crewe Alexandra, whilst a number of the under 18s have also appeared for the club's under 21s.
Academy manager John Dempster was pleased with the workout against the Alex and praised the performance of a number of first years.
“We organised a friendly at Crewe away because we wanted to test ourselves against good opposition who are renowned for keeping the ball and being good in possession.
“Crewe didn’t disappoint – in the first half they kept the ball very well and although our boys defended well and worked extremely hard, we probably didn’t see as much of the ball as we would’ve liked.
“The outstanding performances were from Sam Wilson in goal, who made a number of good saves, Luke Morgan, Harry Bircumshaw and Keaton Ward were all excellent in midfield and Devante Reittie did really well up top on his own.”
