Ladies preview: Stagettes vs Hosiery Mills

26 January 2017

Mansfield Town Ladies return to league action tomorrow as they host local rivals Mansfield Hosiery Mills in the East Midlands Regional Women’s Football League (2.00pm kick-off).

The Stagettes come into the game following an impressive 3-1 away victory over Peterborough Northern Star last weekend.

A brace from Jemma Meakin and a third from Monica Bowley were enough to secure the three points and consolidate top spot against fifth-place Peterborough.

That result leaves manager Tony Palmer’s side six points clear at the summit of the league, but the teams in second, Sheffield United Community and third, Bedworth United, do possess four games in hand.

Hosiery Mills enter this league fixture in good form themselves after beating Notts County Development 2-0 last time out.

The last meeting between the two sides, however, ended incredibly comfortably for the Stagettes as they ran out huge 10-0 victors.

After this game, the Stagettes and Hosiery Mills will meet again next month in the East Midlands Women’s Football League Plate quarter-final as they keep their hopes of a treble alive.

Supporters are welcome to watch the ladies in action at the following venue:

Rainworth Miners’ Welfare,
Kirklington Road,
Rainworth,
