Match preview: Wycombe Wanderers vs Stags

29 December 2017

Mansfield Town take on Wycombe Wanderers in their final game of 2017 on Saturday (30 December, 3.00pm kick-off) and this is your comprehensive guide to the fixture.

Stags will be without defender David Mirfin and midfielder Joel Byrom for Saturday's contest.

Centre-half Mirfin recently underwent a minor knee operation following an injury picked up in the Checkatrade Trophy defeat to Blackpool, whilst Byrom isn't yet fully recovered from a groin problem.

Defender Anthony Stewart missed the win over Newport on Boxing Day after limping off against Coventry before Christmas. Fellow defender Adam El-Abd is also likely to be missing through injury.

Stags have lost just once in 16 games in all competitions since the middle of October.

They have started the festive period strongly, defeating Morecambe 2-1 at One Call Stadium thanks to goals from front duo Kane Hemmings and Danny Rose before recording a 1-1 draw against Grimsby Town on Boxing Day.

After former midfielder Mitch Rose put the Mariners ahead, striker Lee Angol climbed off the bench to equalise ten minutes from time.

The Chairboys have won six consecutive games at Adams Park, culminating in the 2-0 victory over Newport County on Boxing Day.

Striker Nathan Tyson opened the scoring against the Exiles, before physical frontman Bayo Akinfenwa finished in style late on.

Wycombe currently sit level on points with third place Lincoln City and three points above the Stags.

The last meeting between the two sides was in September 2017, in a game which finished 0-0 at One Call Stadium.

Both sides had chances to win it, with Stags' 'keeper Conrad Logan making a superb double save in the first half to preserve his side's clean sheet.

OVERALL RECORD: W - 6 | D - 9 | L - 9

Christopher Sarginson will be the referee for the fixture, whilst Darren Wilding and Rob Smith will assist him. Adrian Waters will be the fourth official.

Mr Sarginson's last match in charge of the Stags was our 0-0 draw with Yeovil Town last season.
