Youth preview: Stags vs Notts County

16 August 2017

Mansfield Town's under 18s will be aiming to build on their 3-2 win over Grimsby Town when they welcome Notts County on Saturday (19 August).

The match will take place at Rainworth Miners Welfare this Saturday (11.00am kick-off).

After an opening day draw at home to Chesterfield, academy manager John Dempster's side came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Grimsby Town last week.

Trailing by two at half-time, a brace of penalties from midfielder Keaton Ward and an Aiden Walker strike ensured the Stags got their maiden win under their belts as they look to successfully defend their EFL Youth Alliance title for the second season running.

They now sit fourth in the league, two points behind leaders Bradford City who have won both of their opening two matches.

County, meanwhile have won one and lost one of their opening two fixtures.

They received a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Lincoln City on the opening day, but bounced back to win 3-1 against Oldham Athletic last week.

Kole Lambert and Remaye Campbell scored first half goals to put the Magpies 2-0 ahead at the break, before Jack Henchcliffe's second half effort put the result beyond doubt, despite the Latics' injury time effort.

Supporters are welcome to watch the encounter for an admission price of £3 at the following venue:
