Under 18s to take on Hartlepool this weekend

31 August 2017

Mansfield Town's under 18s will travel to the North East to face Hartlepool United in the EFL Youth Alliance this Saturday (02 September, 12.00pm kick-off).

The youth team currently sit second in the league table and will be looking to keep up the pressure on leaders Rotherham United, who occupy top spot on goal difference from the Stags.

Last time out, academy manager John Dempster's side got their EFL Youth Alliance Cup campaign up and running with a 3-1 victory over Burton Albion.

Goals from midfielder Keaton Ward - his fourth of the season - and frontmen Nyle Blake and Riley O'Sullivan ensured the Stags ran out comfortable victors against the Brewers.

In the league campaign, Stags have won two and drawn one of their opening three fixtures.

They recorded a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season against local rivals Chesterfield, before coming from two goals down to beat Grimsby Town the following week.

Dempster's men then enjoyed a 2-1 win over Notts County, which saw them draw level on points with the Millers.

Saturday's opponents Hartlepool have won one and lost one of their opening two fixtures.

They began with a 3-0 home defeat to Rotherham United, but then bounced back with a 1-0 victory over York City last week.

Supporters are welcome to attend the fixture at the following venue:
