Match preview: Stags vs Lincoln City

29 August 2017

Mansfield Town's Checkatrade Trophy campaign gets underway on Tuesday evening when they entertain Lincoln City at One Call Stadium (7.45pm) and this is your comprehensive guide to the fixture.

Defender Zander Diamond will be aiming to recover from a slight knock after missing Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Luton Town.

The Imps have no new injury concerns, with just midfielder Josh Ginnelly sidelined with an ankle injury.

Stags recorded their second 2-2 draw of the season on Saturday when they played out a four-goal thriller with Luton Town.

Defender Rhys Bennett gave Stags the lead in the first half, before frontman Lee Angol doubled their advantage in the second period. However, Luton duo James Collins and Danny Hylton rescued a point late on, before Stags' striker Jimmy Spencer missed a last-minute penalty.

The Imps secured a resounding 4-1 victory over Carlisle United last time out. An Alex Woodyard double put the Imps ahead, before former Stag Matt Rhead converted a penalty after Tom Parkes received his marching orders.

Former Stags' winger Reggie Lambe got the Cumbrians back in the game, but winger Billy Knott rounded off the victory in the 87th minute.

The last meeting between the two sides was in an FA Cup second round replay in December 2012.

Stags progressed to the next round - where they met giants Liverpool - thanks to an own goal from Paul Farman and winger Louis Briscoe, despite Adam Smith's 41st minute equaliser.

HEAD-TO-HEAD record: W: 26 | D: 17 | L: 25

The referee for the match will be David Webb and he will be assisted by Stephen Wade and Duncan Street. Thomas Bramall will undertake fourth official duties.

Mr Webb's last match officiating the Stags was our 2-1 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers in last season's Checkatrade Trophy.
