Paralympic swimming champion Ollie Hynd will lead out players from Mansfield Town and Notts County this Saturday following his magnificent achievements at Rio 2016.
Ollie, 21 from Mansfield, won two gold medals at this summer’s Paralympic Games in the 400m freestyle S8 event and the 200m individual medley SM8 race – incredibly, he set a new world record in the 200m event.Over the last year, Ollie has been helped by the backing of The Radford Foundation.
The Radford Foundation was set up by Stags’ chairman John Radford and his wife Carolyn (the club’s chief executive) in 2014 to create a safer and stronger community for the people of Mansfield and surrounding areas and to improve the sporting facilities and programmes that support the area.
The club recently hosted a homecoming party in honour of Ollie, and fellow Paralympian Charlotte Henshaw who won bronze in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB6 race in Rio.
Ollie will watch Saturday’s local derby with his family from the directors’ box at One Call Stadium as guests of John and Carolyn Radford while Charlotte is expected to be at a future home game after previously committing to another engagement this Saturday.
Chief executive officer Carolyn Radford said: "I'm so happy Ollie is coming to this game. I really want the people of Nottinghamshire to give him a great reception on Saturday. He did so well and puts in so much hard work. Saturday will be a great day of celebration day for him."
Mansfield Town will take on Notts County this Saturday at One Call Stadium in Sky Bet League Two. Kick-off at 12.15pm.
