Midfielder Chris Clements has signed a new contract with the club, we are pleased to announce.
It was revealed last week that the Birmingham-born midfielder had been offered a new contract by manager Adam Murray and the deal has today been completed.Â
The 26-year-old made 32 Sky Bet League 2 starts for the Stags last season, mostly occupying a central midfield role.Â
The Crewe Alexandra academy graduate joined the club in 2012 from non-league side Hednesford Town after making over 100 appearances for the Pitmen.Â
Clements was part of the side which won promotion from the Conference in 2012/13 and has since become a mainstay of the Stags’ midfield, becoming a well-liked figure for his flamboyant range of passing and intelligence going forward.
The deal will run from 01 July and is subject to Football League approval. Â
After re-signing, Clements immediately revealed that he is targeting a high-level of consistency in his performances next season: Â "I need to 'buckle down' on my consistency," said Clements.
"I want to cement a place [in the team] for the season, get more goals than I did last season and help the team gain promotion.
"With the way the gaffer is doing things, we have a good chance of having a good season, bearing in mind his football philosophy. We have a bit of everything where we can go to different teams in this league and compete."
