Ladies' development side in cup final action tonight

18 May 2016

Mansfield Town Ladies’ Development side will be aiming for victory against Clifton Ladies in the League Cup final this evening (7.30pm kick-off).

The young Stagettes, who finished third in their respective division will have to be at their best if they are to lift the trophy, as Clifton finished top with five more points having only lost two games all season.

Mansfield won nine out of their 14 matches in the campaign, and confidence will be flowing ahead of the tie in Calverton. In their last outing on Sunday, they brushed aside Sherwood Youth Ladies with an emphatic 10-1 thrashing, whilst they also defeated Ilkeston FC Juniors 8-1 a fortnight earlier.

In the cup competition, the Stagettes finished top of the group whilst Clifton finished second, meaning the sides meet in the cup final tonight.

When the two sides last met, Mansfield ran out 4-2 winners which was revenge for the previous times they’ve pitted their wits against each other this season. Clifton have emerged victors in four of the five encounters, meaning tonight is finely poised as they both seek a positive end to the campaign.

For the Stagettes, it’s the penultimate match of the season as they also entertain Arnold Town four days later in their final league fixture.

Manager Nick Burton's ladies will be hoping to kickstart a successful week for the Ladies' setup with the senior women’s side playing Long Eaton United at the weekend in their respective cup final.

The address for the game is as follows:
Calverton MW,
Hollinwood Lane, Calverton,
NG14 6NR
