Youth preview: Stags vs Doncaster Rovers

10 March 2016

Mansfield Town’s under 18s will be aiming to reproduce their best football when they host Doncaster Rovers on Saturday (11am kick-off).

After back-to-back defeats against Burton Albion and Rotherham United in the last two weeks, the Stags will be looking to get back to winning ways on their home turf, which is much-required if they are to maintain their Football League Youth Alliance title push.

Influential midfielder Cain Smith is still set to be sidelined with an injury for the visit of the South Yorkshire outfit.

Doncaster currently lie in mid-table, but will close the gap on Mansfield to two points by triumphing on Saturday. However, the Stags still sit just one point behind league-leaders Lincoln City, but do hold a game in hand.

In the last fixture between the two sides, Will Longbottom and Mathew Parkin got the goals to hand Rovers a 2-0 victory, so John Dempster’s outfit will be looking for revenge but will also have to be knowingly aware of the threats that their opponents possess.

Mansfield’s last game saw them lose 3-1 to Rotherham United. Tom Marriott gave Dempster’s side a 43rd-minute lead, before Kudakwashe Muskwe grabbed a brace and Darnelle Bailey-King added another goal to hand the Millers all three points at Brooksby College.

The address for the game is as follows:

Rainworth MWFC,
Kirklington Road,
Rainworth,
Mansfield,
Notts,
NG21 0JY
