Take the Stags into Europe!

18 March 2016

Sign up for Prostate Cancer UK's annual bike ride to Amsterdam and represent the Stags in the process!

Represent Mansfield Town in Prostate Cancer UK’s Men United in Europe on 03-05 June 2016 for a 145-mile cycle ride in association with The Football League.

Supporters of over 70 clubs are taking part in the ride, but we are yet to have someone associated with the Stags sign up!

The ride, formerly known as the London to Amsterdam, has been rebranded for 2016. In an exciting new development, the charity ride will consist of two start locations to become the all-inclusive Football to Amsterdam.

London or Yorkshire?

In 2016, there are two start locations:

  • Set off from Barnsley FC’s Oakwell Stadium – home of the Tykes since 1888.
  • Or kick off from the iconic Olympic Park in East London.

In the previous two years, the club's head of media & communications Mark Stevenson, former Sammy the Stag mascot Doug Carroll and Luke Thomas, brother of our midfielder Jack, represented the club in the cycle challenge.

Last year’s event was a sell out with more than 250 riders – including former international trio Terry Butcher, Matt Holland and Luther Blissett, together with Preston North End boss Simon Grayson.

In 2015, the collective Men United squad raised a whopping £350,000 for Prostate Cancer UK, an amount which will go a long way in helping men who are affected by the disease and crucially pave the way for new research and treatments.

The registration fee is £149. Each rider will pledge to raise a minimum of £1,000 in sponsorship to help fight back against a disease that affects one in eight men in the UK.
