Match preview: Mickleover Sports vs Stags

25 July 2016

Stags' boss Adam Murray will take his first team squad to The Don Amott Arena tomorrow evening (26 July, 7.30pm kick-off) and this is your comprehensive guide to the fixture.

The Stags are expected to take a similar squad to the one which faced Alfreton Town on Saturday, with boss Adam Murray confirming after the match at the Impact Arena that he would be using his first team players against Sports.

Left-back Malvind Benning will most likely miss out again after the gaffer revealed that he was left out 'as a precaution' against the Reds.

The match will be the Stags' eighth pre-season fixture after previously playing two home matches and five away games.

Saturday's 1-1 draw with Alfreton was their third draw of the month following a 2-2 outcome against Clipstone and a 0-0 stalemate with Matlock Town.

Murray's men began their pre-season schedule with a 2-0 victory over Rainworth Miners Welfare before registering a 4-3 win against Carlton Town and a solid 2-1 triumph over League One side Bolton Wanderers.

The only defeat of the month was a slender 1-0 loss to Premier League side Hull City at One Call Stadium last week.

The hosts have only played four first team friendlies so far, winning one, drawing two and losing one.

Their solitary victory came in a 4-3 thriller away to Gresley on 16 July, whilst they drew 1-1 with Tamworth and Derby County under 23s, respectively.

Sports' only defeat occurred against Birmingham City under 21s, who ran out 2-0 victors.

Tuesday's match will be the first ever meeting between the two sides.

The referee for the occasion will be Derbyshire-based Ian Smedley, and he will be assisted by Nick Lees and Clive Lawrence.

Mr Smedley usually plies his trade as an EFL assistant referee and his most recent meeting with the Stags was when he 'ran the line' during our 1-0 defeat to Luton Town in September 2015.

The match against Mickleover is a 'pay on the gate' fixture and prices are as follows:

Adults: £10
Concessions: £6
Under 16s: FREE

Plenty of parking will be available for supporters at the Don Amott Arena and the address is as follows:

The Don Amott Arena,
