Match preview: Alfreton vs Stags

22 July 2016

Adam Murray's men will visit The Impact Arena on Saturday (23 July, 3pm kick-off) to face Alfreton Town and this is your comprehensive guide to the fixture.

The Stags are expected to utilise all of their first team squad at the Impact Arena.

Stags go into the match following a slender 1-0 defeat to Premier League side Hull City on Tuesday evening, who had young substitute Jarrod Bowen to thank after his second half strike broke the deadlock.

It was the first defeat for Adam Murray's men since they returned to pre-season training following draws against Clipstone and Matlock and victories over Rainworth Miners Welfare, Carlton Town and Bolton Wanderers.

Alfreton are now well into their pre-season campaign after draws against Sheffield Wednesday and Notts County and a narrow 1-0 defeat against Sky Bet League Two side Grimsby Town.

The hosts enjoyed a solid season in the National League North in 2015/16, finishing in 10th place, 14 points outside the play-off positions.

The two clubs have only met six times in their history, with the most recent coming in 2013 when the Stags triumphed 3-0 over the Reds in the Conference Premier. Goals from defenders Exodus Geohaghon and John Dempster added to Colin Daniel's effort to ensure the Stags picked up three point on their way to the league title.

OVERALL RECORD: WON-4 DRAWN-1 LOST-1

The referee for the occasion will be Dave Plowright and he will be assisted by Ian Jackson and Nigel Smith.

The fixture is a pay-on-the-day occasion with Stags' supporters being able to pay their admission fee upon entry to The Impact Arena.

Admission prices are as follows:

Adults: £10
Concessions: £5

Supporters wishing to drive to the match should head towards junction 28 of the M1 and take the A38 towards Derby for two miles, then take a left onto the B600 slip road. At the T junction, turn right towards the town centre.
