Young Stags welcome league leaders on Saturday

29 January 2016

Mansfield Town’s under 18s host league-leaders Scunthorpe United tomorrow (11am kick-off) as they look to bounce back from last week’s defeat against Chesterfield.

Stags’ youngsters were defeated 2-0 by the Spireites in Derbyshire last Saturday, an occasion which can provide a learning curve as they head into the rest of their campaign.

The game against the Spireites was Mansfield’s first league game of the calendar year after several postponements blighted the beginning of January.

But with a highly intense encounter under their belts, John Dempster’s youngsters will be raring to go against a side who are flying high at the top of the Football League Youth Alliance.

The Stags currently sit three points behind the Iron with a game in hand, so tomorrow's match could have a huge impact on the title race.

The last contest between the two sides saw the Stags continue their unbeaten start to the season, with Zayn Hakeem grabbing the goal for Mansfield before the highly-coveted Jack Dyche equalised.

The match will be played at Rainworth Miners Welfare and the address is as follows:
Rainworth MWFC,
Kirklington Road,
NG21 0JY
