Tonight: An Evening with Barry Foster

25 January 2016

Former Stags’ defender Barry Foster will be the next guest in our ‘An Evening with’ series, taking place tonight at One Call Stadium.

Barry will take to the stage to answer fans’ questions this evening at 7.30pm in the Sandy Pate Sports Bar and entry is FREE for all.

Foster, who graduated from the Stags’ youth team, completed an electrician’s apprenticeship before signing his first professional contract in 1970.

After regular left-back Clive Walker suffered an injury, Foster replaced him and made the position his own. He was a member of the side that finished top of Division Four in 1975, and also won Division Three two years later.

In total, Foster played 343 matches for the Stags and was released at the end of the 1981-82 season at the age of 30.

Foster finished his career with a season at non-league Boston United before retiring to join his family's market-trading business.

Barry will answer any questions from the audience on the night, as well as facing a supporter in a head-to-head quiz for the chance to win Stags’ merchandise on the night.

The Sandy Pate Sports Bar is situated at the back of the Ian Greaves Stand with plenty of free parking.
