Stagettes welcome Grimsby on Sunday

26 January 2016

The Stagettes will be aiming to increase Grimsby Borough’s misery at Rainworth Miners Welfare on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

Manager Lewis Saxby’s side saw last week’s fixture against Kettering Town postponed due to the Northamptonshire side’s cup commitments, so they will be hoping to channel their frustrations into reigniting their title charge.

Mansfield’s Ladies have only played once since the turn of the year, but Sunday’s match is the perfect time for them to make up for lost time and get their season back up and running again in style.

Grimsby Borough have a mere three points to their name from 11 games this campaign, and come to Kirklington Road a week after being thumped 5-0 by Notts County.

With the Stagettes now six points off top spot and sitting in third position, a win will be required to ensure their title hopes remain alive.

In the last game between the two sides, Saxby’s side thrashed Sunday’s visitors 9-0 – Abbey Hawkins notched four, Androulla Kokkinou bagged a brace, while Rebecca Braithwaite, Rachael Mullin and Jemma Douglas got one each to confirm the comprehensive victory in Lincolnshire.

For people wishing to attend the game, food will be served from 12pm-7pm in the Sandy Pate Sports Bar, while drinks will be served from 12pm-9pm throughout the day.

The match will be played at Rainworth Miners Welfare and the address is as follows:
Kirklington Road,
Rainworth,
Mansfield,
NG19 0JY
