Stagettes to face Kettering this Sunday

22 January 2016

The Stagettes will be looking to close the gap on the top of the league when they travel to take on Kettering Town Women on Sunday 24 January (2pm).

Last week’s snow meant Lewis Saxby’s side were denied the opportunity to face strugglers Arnold Town, but they will be ready for the challenge of Kettering, who have only played five league matches in the 2015-16 campaign, compared to Mansfield’s ten.

Extending the gap to 15 points between the two sides will be the target for the third-placed Stagettes, who will be wanting to bounce back from their defeat to Bedworth United on 10 January.

Androulla Kokkinou scored twice on the day with a stand-out performance for Mansfield in the dramatic encounter, but Kirsty Farnsworth, Jodi Hunter and substitute Shona Franklin handed Bedworth a slender victory.

In Kettering’s last fixture in early December, goals from Laura Beckett, Brodie Betts and Mikaela Welford gave the Northamptonshire outfit the win against Mansfield Hosiery Mills.

Hollie Coulson got Player of the Match for the victors in that game, and she will be one to keep an eye on as Saxby’s ladies try and prevent her from influencing proceedings.

The address for the match is as follows:
Polwell Lane,
Burton Latimer,
Northants
NN15 5PS
