Mansfield Town Ladies take on Bedworth United in their first league game for over a month on Sunday afternoon (10 January, 2pm kick-off).
Lewis Saxby’s ladies will be hoping to build on their superb form in 2015, having won four of their last five competitive fixtures.
Last time out, the Stagettes thrashed Arnold Town 5-1 thanks to two goals from Jessica Machin and one apiece for Abby Hawkins, Abbie Barlow and Becky Braithwaite.Â
A win for Mansfield will mean they leapfrog Bedworth into second position in the division, with two points currently separating the sides. The two teams have scored an equal number of goals this season, while the Stagettes have conceded just two more.Â
Mansfield have had their last three fixtures against Kettering, Notts County and Nettleham postponed, so they’ll be fresh for this Sunday's match – Bedworth, however, were last in action on 03 January when they were defeated by Long Eaton United Ladies, despite Shanice Walsh getting on the scoresheet.
Rebecca Leatherbarrow will be one to watch in the Bedworth ranks as she picked up Player of the Match in the last game for Sunday’s hosts.
The two teams faced each other earlier in the season when Mansfield’s unbeaten run came to an end due to a 3-1 loss, despite Jemma Douglas slotting home her fourth goal of the campaign for Saxby’s side.
The address for the match is as follows:
