Former Wembley scoreboard to be erected at the Stags

22 January 2016

A giant scoreboard, which was previously used at Wembley Stadium, will be in operation at One Call Stadium by the start of next season.

Stadium director Paul Broughton broke the news to www.mansfieldtown.net this afternoon, following the erection of a steel framework for the scoreboard on the Bishop Street side of the ground.

The scoreboard, which is 15 metres in width, and six metres high, will be stationed between the Bishop Street Stand and the North Stand (away end).

Stadium director Paul Broughton said: “Mansfield Town Football Club has been improving off the pitch, as well as on it, since our chairman John Radford purchased the club five years ago.

“This is the latest improvement to One Call Stadium.

"As our fans are well aware, the previous scoreboard has been inactive for some time.

“Knowing that any apparatus that comes from the home of football (Wembley) is bound to be of premium quality and after carrying out the necessary tests on the scoreboard’s software, we decided it was definitely worth purchasing.

“It will be a point of focus throughout matchday with full colour visual imagery.”

Mr Broughton added: “It will be up and running for the start of next season, and if we get ahead of schedule it may even be in operation by the end of this season.”
