Youth preview: Stags vs Burton Albion

25 February 2016

Mansfield Town’s under 18s will be searching for their third straight Football League Youth Alliance victory against rivals Burton Albion on Saturday (11am kick-off).

After seeing their game on Saturday at home to Bradford City cancelled, the Stags will be fully prepared for the task in hand as they look to maintain their fine form.

John Dempster’s youngsters are flying high in the league, but the mid-table Brewers will provide tough opposition on the day.

Burton, coached by Sam Rose, head into the contest on the back of a 3-1 victory over the Bantams, which was their last game a fortnight ago.

Goals from Charlie Gatter, Marcus Dinanga and Mirza Sejdic ensured the win, although they’ll be looking for revenge after Mansfield defeated the Derbyshire outfit 3-0 back in mid-October.

On that day, Teddy Bloor, Tom Marriott and Brad Smith’s own goal earned the Stags all three points convincingly.

Mansfield couldn’t be in better form going into this one, with back-to-back wins previously. In their last outing, Marriott’s first-half penalty was all that was required to defeat a valiant and brave York City.

The address for the game is as follows:

Rainworth Miners Welfare

Kirklington Road,

Rainworth,

Nottinghamshire
NG21 0JY
