Increase in ticket prices? Not at our club

20 February 2016

Chairman John Radford says the Stags will not increase season ticket/matchday prices whichever division we are in next season and is considering lowering admission costs.

Writing in today's match programme against Dagenham & Redbridge, Mr Radford writes...

Much has been made of excessive ticket prices to watch football recently, none more so at Anfield, Liverpool, where an attempted hike in prices led the Reds’ hierarchy to back down after an outcry from the club’s loyal followers.

It gave me cause for thought. Football is a working man’s game, in my opinion. Nobody should be excluded from seeing their local club because of excessive ticket pricing. Whilst you have to maintain a correct balance in pricing to ensure that wages and bills are paid, I cannot see the need to make football matches unaffordable.

As a follow on from this, I am pleased to tell you that I won’t be increasing season ticket or matchday prices next season, whichever division we are in. Additionally, I will consult with my board of directors in the forthcoming weeks to see if it is financially viable for us to decrease season ticket/matchday ticket prices for next season.

We want to be the best in everything which we do at One Call Stadium and that certainly includes the pricing of tickets. Our target is to have a pricing structure which is amongst the very best in the English professional game.

We want as many people within Mansfield to be able to come and watch us.

After our last four home games saw us introduce the ‘kids for a quid’ offer, I asked our secretary to lodge a request with the Football League to see if we can extend our ‘kids for a quid’ scheme but unfortunately this was rejected.

As a reminder for this season: children aged six and under can watch home games this season for FREE when accompanied by a paying adult, whilst juniors (aged 7 to 17) can pay as little as £10, if tickets are purchased prior to matchday.

Come on you Stags!!
