Reflect on 2016 with The Stag

29 December 2016

Supporters are invited to reflect on the past 12 months at One Call Stadium in Saturday’s edition of The Stag, our matchday programme.

We welcome Doncaster Rovers to One Call Stadium on New Year’s Eve (31 December, 12.15pm kick-off) in what has been dubbed as the One Call Derby and supporters can buy the latest edition of The Stag for just £3.

This year-end issue of our official matchday programme features a special version of the ‘In Numbers’ segment, which looks back on the Stags’ facts and figures throughout this calendar year.

Highlights include attacking talisman Matt Green’s goal-scoring exploits, the thrilling EFL Youth Alliance success last term for our under 18s, the Stags' number of home and away league victories, and much more.

Right-back Phil Bilson is the subject of the week’s under 21s’ Q&A, in which the 18-year-old explains why he idolises Italian great Fabio Cannavaro and shares his footballing memories.

Moreover, academy manager John Dempster reviews the progress of the Stags’ under 18s in his half-term report as he outlines both praise and targets for his squad.

Development coach Richard Cooper evaluates how the quartet of professional under 21 players – defender Louis Danquah, midfielders Adriel George and Lewis Collins and striker Tyler Blake – are progressing as they aim to force their way in to manager Steve Evans’ first team squad.

Can you name the only four players to have played in the Manchester and the Merseyside derbies, as well as in Spain’s El Clasico? The latest addition of The Stag poses 15 fascinating questions for fans to tackle.

Furthermore, our ‘One Game Wonders’ series continues as journalist Tom Errington recalls midfielder Jamie Hand’s solitary appearance for Mansfield Town in 2012, in a 1-0 win over Hyde.

Club historian Paul Taylor selects eight matchday programme covers from the archives, recalling different Stags v Doncaster match-ups over the years across both league and the cup fixtures.

Finally, supporters are reminded to keep a look out for manager Steve Evans’ signature on any random page in your copy of The Stag. If you’re lucky enough to buy a signed copy, you’ll win two tickets for our match against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday 07 January!

The Stag is available to buy for only £3 from our ticket office, the merchandise stall, or any programme vendors around the stadium.
