Youth preview: Stags vs Scunthorpe United

18 August 2016

Mansfield Town’s under 18s will be looking to build on last week’s brilliant 1-0 win over local rivals Chesterfield when they welcome Scunthorpe United on Saturday (11am kick-off).

Midfielder Cameron Healey headed home Teddy Bloor’s second half corner against the Spireites to seal the Stags’ first win of the 2016/17 EFL Youth Alliance campaign.

And Saturday’s fixture is expected to be another tense affair after John Dempster’s side pipped Scunthorpe to the league title last season - the Stags won the championship with Scunthorpe still having a game to play.

Dempster and his coaching staff will undoubtedly be pleased with their start to the season after seeing new additions Henri Wilder, Aiden Walker and Ashanti Pryce slot in to the side with ease, as well as youngsters Nyle Blake and Harry Bircumshaw successfully making the step up from the under 16s.

At this early stage of the season, Stags occupy third spot in the EFL Youth Alliance North East division table, with four points.

The match against the Iron kicks off at 11am on Saturday and the address is as follows:

Clipstone FC,
The Worksop Van Hire Stadium,
Mansfield Road,
Clipstone,
Notts,
NG21 9DP
