Volunteer Chris Wood will play a key role in tomorrow's first home match against Cheltenham Town, by leading out the two teams with the Matchball.
To mark the start of the new football season, the English Football League (EFL) launched its #EFLStories campaign to tell the stories of all the people who help make the EFL what it is - a football experience for everyone.
Across the opening two weekends of the season, the first 72 people featured on the #EFLStories website will have the privilege of delivering their club’s new Mitre match ball to the pitch at the first home league game of the season, with #EFLStories ball presentations taking place across all three divisions of the Sky Bet EFL.
Chris is entering his 30th season as a volunteer as part of our groundstaff and helps keep One Call Stadium clean and tidy for Stags’ supporters ahead of a home matchday.
Writing in tomorrow’s match programme, chairman John Radford commented: “It’s a remarkable achievement for Chris.
“I thank him for his hard work over the last 30 years and trust this day will be a memorable one for Chris, his family and friends.”
