Youth preview: Stags vs Oldham Athletic

21 April 2016

Mansfield Town’s high-flying under 18s will be aiming to retain top position in the Football League Youth Alliance in their home match against Oldham Athletic on Saturday (12pm kick-off).

They suffered defeat to Hartlepool United two weeks ago but John Dempster's men showed magnificent character to bounce back and record a victory over Lincoln City last Saturday.

Striker Tyler Blake hit a brace with left-back Louis Danquah grabbing the other goal as the young Stags beat the Imps 3-1 away from home.

The Football League Youth Alliance title is within their grasp and they’ll be hoping to triumph to give themselves the best opportunity of success.

In the previous meeting between the two sides back in late-November, goals from midfielders Tom Marriott and Cain Smith ensured a 2-1 success for the Stags in Greater Manchester in what was a hard-fought encounter.

And the campaign has been littered with results of that nature for the Stags, who have continued to impress and bounce back from any adverse results.

The Latics aren’t in the best of form coming into the contest after back-to-back losses against Chesterfield and York City, respectively. Their last victory came on 06 April as they overcame Bolton Wanderers in a 4-3 thriller.

The address for the match is as follows:
Clipstone FC,
The Worksop Van Hire Stadium,
Mansfield Road,
Clipstone,
Notts,
NG21 9DP
