Youngsters continue title charge at Hartlepool on Saturday

7 April 2016

Mansfield Town’s second-placed under 18s will be looking to claim top spot with a victory away at Hartlepool United this weekend (12pm kick-off).

After going three games unbeaten with wins over Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers, the Stags will be looking to build on their battling 1-1 draw over Notts County last week and claim the victory that could see them rise to top spot in the division.

Striker Zayn Hakeem was the scorer for John Dempster’s men against the Magpies at Rainworth, before the visitors got back on level terms courtesy of a goal from Sam Osborne eight minutes from time.

The Stags’ last win came on March 26 against the Bantams, when a Cain Smith strike was enough to grab all three points in an entertaining affair.

In the last meeting between Mansfield’s youngsters and the Pools, attackers Tyler Blake and Hakeem grabbed the goals in a 2-2 draw, which sent the Nottinghamshire outfit back to the top of the table - a feat they’ll once again be hoping to achieve this time around.

The Monkey Hangers come into the contest with a dissatisfying defensive record from their point of view, having conceded eight goals in their last two matches against Chesterfield and Doncaster, with six of those coming at home to the Spireites.

The address for the game is as follows:

Blackhall Colliery Welfare Park,
Eleventh Street,
Blackhall Colliery,
Hartlepool,
County Durham,
TS27 4LX
