Stags' boss named as Manager of the Week

18 April 2016

Mansfield Town manager Adam Murray has been named as the Football League’s Manager of the Week after masterminding the memorable 5-0 victory over Notts County on Saturday.

The Stags were winning 1-0 at half-time, but the 34-year-old’s team-talk inspired his side to score four more goals to consign our East Midlands rivals to a huge 5-0 defeat in front of a One Call Stadium crowd of 6,357.

And the Football League have today named Murray as the boss of the week for all 72 Football League clubs, as Mansfield recorded their best ever victory over the Magpies.

The win was also the first time that the Stags have scored five goals in a Football League game since November 2007, when they beat Macclesfield Town by the same scoreline at home.

The Football League's Team of the Week is as follows: Alex Revell (MK Dons), Alex Baptiste (Sheffield United), Andy Butler (Doncaster Rovers), Paul Robinson (AFC Wimbledon), George Boyd (Burnley), Jon Taylor (Peterborough United), Josh Windass (Accrington Stanley), Luke Williams (Scunthorpe United), Jordan Rhodes (Middlesbrough), Joe Pigott (Luton Town), Tomer Hemed (Brighton & Hove Albion).

Manager: Adam Murray
