Ladies in semi-final action tonight

20 April 2016

Mansfield Town’s Ladies face Bedworth United in the semi-final of the League Cup tonight at Ellistown (8pm kick-off).

The Stagettes head into the tie in great form having recorded a clinical 3-0 victory over Kettering Town at the weekend.

Lewis Saxby’s side got their revenge on a Kettering side who triumphed over them 4-2 last month.

Bedworth will be coming into the contest looking to bounce back after they lost 1-0 away to Rise Park Ladies on Sunday thanks to a goal from Jess Waplington.

Although they’re positioned second in the table, Mansfield have played two games more than league leaders Long Eaton United and they’re six points behind.

With this in mind, the cup competition presents the Stagettes with the perfect opportunity to win some silverware in this campaign.

The last meeting between the two sides was in Warwickshire, but Saxby’s outfit were edged out in a thrilling encounter. Forward Androulla Kokkinou grabbed a brace and received the Player of the Match award, but she couldn’t prevent her team from a 3-2 defeat, courtesy of goals from Kirsty Farnsworth, Jodi Hunter and Shona Franklin.

The address for the game is as follows:
Terrace Road,
Ellistown, Leicestershire
LE67 1GD
