Match Preview: Stags vs Crawley Town

11 September 2015

Your comprehensive guide to this weekend’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against Crawley Town (3pm).

TEAM NEWS:

With more than a month of the season already gone, Adam Murray has very few injury concerns. Goalkeeper Scott Shearer and winger Matty Blair are both back in training following their respective injury lay-offs whilst the rest of the squad is injury-free.

Crawley have two notable absentees from their first-team squad with defender Lanre Oyebanjo and forward Gavin Tomlin both out until October for the Reds after undergoing operations in the summer. However, defender Liam Donnelly should return to the squad after serving his one-match suspension.

RECENT FORM:

Stags head into the game at One Call Stadium following three consecutive draws on home soil. Carlisle United, Oxford United and most recently AFC Wimbledon have all ended 1-1. However the Stags have picked up brilliant away victories at Notts County and York City in recent weeks to ensure they sit just a point outside the play-offs.

Following their relegation last year, Crawley have had a mixed start to the season and currently lie 18th in the League Two table with six points from their first five games. The Reds have won one and drawn one on their travels so far this season, with the victory coming in a convincing 3-0 win away at Cambridge United.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

The sides have faced each other just six times in their history during the Sussex club’s meteoric rise to the Football League. After moving from part-time to full-time in 2005, the two sides met just six times in the Conference meaning that this Saturday’s game will be the maiden Football League tie between the clubs.

The sides last met in our penultimate season in the Conference when Crawley emerged 4-1 victors at One Call Stadium before winning 2-0 in the return fixture at Broadfield Stadium.

OVERALL RECORD: WON 3 DREW 0 LOST 3

MATCH OFFICIALS:

Mr Madley has given out 28 yellow cards and three red cards in the seven fixtures he’s taken charge of so far this campaign.
