Youth preview: Stags vs Shrews

1 October 2015

Stags’ youth team take on Shrewsbury Town at Rainworth Miners Welfare this Saturday at 11am.

Stags welcome the Shrews in the second round of the Football League Youth Alliance Cup after defeating Grimsby Town in the first round on penalties earlier in the season.

John Dempster’s side are yet to lose this season and last week defeated fellow unbeaten team Bradford City 3-1 thanks to goals from Alistar Smith (2) and Surafel Behailu.

The under 18s came through the win at Bradford with no new injuries to report, so Dempster has a full arsenal to choose from for the cup tie.

Shrewsbury will provide another stern test for the young Stags after winning their first five fixtures of the season which has catapulted them to the top of the Football League Youth Alliance North West division.

Preceding the game, both our under 12 sides, Mansfield Town Blue and Mansfield Town Yellow, are playing each other at Kirklington Road. Kick-off is 10.30am so supporters are urged to get down early and watch the youngsters before the Football Conference Youth Alliance Cup tie.

Supporters wishing to watch the young guns are welcome to do so and the venue details are as follows:
