Stags supporting Children in Need

8 October 2015

Mansfield Town are proud to be supporting driving instructors who will be raising money for Children in Need over the coming weeks.

Stags’ fans will have the opportunity to ‘sponsor a spot’ on an instructor’s car as they aim to better last year’s outstanding grand total of £65,500.

A raffle will also be drawn with the winner receiving ten free driving lessons, with all the proceeds are going to Children in Need.

One of the drivers, Mark Eastwood, spoke enthusiastically about this year’s plans.

He said: “It was only last year that one of our instructors came up with a relay idea which saw 135 instructors clock up about 2,500 miles, allowing the public to sponsor us too. People can pick their colour [for the spot] and write what they want.

“Our plan is to raise £100,000 for the charity and we would love for Mansfield’s supporters to get behind us.”

Children in Need has been running since 1980 and has raised a monumental amount of money to aid the lives of children all around the United Kingdom.

Eastwood added: “It’s massively important as it helps not only children, but adults as well who rely on younger people to care for them. It’s a fantastic thing, we’re out on the roads all the time so it’s great to be doing something for such a worthy cause.”

Stags’ fans will have the chance to sponsor a spot on a car at Saturday’s home game against Newport County by signing up with one of the driving instructors who will be situated in the main car park at One Call Stadium.
