Mansfield Town’s under 18s face Dereham Town tonight (13 November) at One Call Stadium in the second round of the FA Youth Cup (7pm kick-off).
TEAM NEWS:
Youth team manager John Dempster could be set to have midfielder Cain Smith available for selection again after the youngster was an unused substitute in Adam Murray’s first team squad for their Emirates FA Cup 0-0 draw against Oldham Athletic last Saturday.
Long-term absentees Devante Reittie and Tom Slone will be missing, while new signing Tyler Johal is cup tied after his inclusion in Ilkeston FC’s FA Youth Cup qualifying games. Zayn Hakeem will be pushing for a place in the starting line-up after an all-action display in the previous stage of the competition.
Visitors Dereham, who were formed in 1884, will be hoping to have James Cooper fit to play after the number nine netted twice in their first round 2-1 victory over Peterborough United.
Captain Matt Cook has taken to the field in eight of Dereham’s first team fixtures in the Ryman League Division One North so far this campaign, and will be aiming to be present for Dereham’s second fixture of the term against Football League opposition after he led his team to success over Peterborough United in the first round proper.
RECENT FORM:
The Stags have been in relatively good form heading into the tie, despite a loss to local rivals Notts County in Arnold on Saturday.
That was the Stags’ first defeat in four matches, and followed their success over Cambridge City in the first round. They’ve picked up a superb 11 wins in all competitions so far this season.
Dereham Town have defeated Haverhill Rovers, Wroxham, Stowmarket Town and Peterborough United to reach this stage of the competition, scoring 17 goals in the process.
The Magpies are fourth in the Thurlow Nunn North Division and boast on of the division’s deadliest strikers; Aaron Attree is second in the top scorer’s chart with seven goals.
ADMISSION:
Admission is priced at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions. Entry into the ground will be via the first lower tier turnstile of the Ian Greaves Stand, closest to the Quarry Lane End.
