Popular talisman returns to One Call Stadium.
We are delighted to announce that Matt Green is once again a Mansfield Town player.
The 28-year-old has signed a permanent deal to return to One Call Stadium and will spearhead our strike-force in the 2015/16 campaign.
Green is fondly remembered by supporters for his exploits in our title-winning Conference Premier campaign a couple of years ago.
The striker won the divisional ‘Golden Boot’ award for his exploits that term as he weighed in with 25 goals in the league – including THAT strike in our nail-biting win over Hereford United in the penultimate game of the season.
Green then joined Birmingham City two years ago and scored two goals in a dozen appearances, before he was sidelined by an injury.
Delighted with the acquisition of the striker, boss Adam Murray said: “Both myself and the chairman have fought long and hard in order to beat off competition from League One and Championship clubs to capture the signature of Matt Green.
“It’s a statement of our intent going into next season and it’s great to have him back on board. I thank the chairman for making this happen.”
We’ll have a full interview with our new recruit on www.mansfieldtown.net later this afternoon.
