Striker delighted to be returning to One Call Stadium.
Matt Green is delighted to be ācoming homeā to Mansfield Town after signing a deal to spearhead our strike-force next season.
The 28-year-old, whose goals fired us to the Conference Premier title in 2012/13, is now determined to pick up where he left off and find the back of the net on a frequent basis in Sky Bet League Two.
āI canāt put it into words [what it means to be back],ā said the striker.
āItās something that has been ongoing for a couple of months now. The chairman has done everything possible to bring me to the club and to obviously come back and play for the gaffer and infront of all the fans is great.ā
When asked what the main factors were in his return, he continued: āItās just to pick up where I left off in terms of scoring goals and I know the fans have always taken kindly to me.
āOn top of that Adam Murray is the manager now and it just seemed right. I obviously had two great seasons here, so you always want to be somewhere where youāre going to be happy.
āI love the area and everyone here seems to have looked after me, so itās a pleasure to be back. We (me and my family) would like to like to live round here, so it does feel like coming home.ā
Despite being sidelined for the vast majority of the 2014/15 campaign with a knee injury, the frontman says he is fully fit and raring to go and canāt wait until the start of next season.
āI feel fit and ready to go and I just canāt wait to get back out onto the pitch,ā said Green, who scored in last monthās Birmingham Senior Cup Final win over Nuneaton Town for Birmingham City.
āI played about four reserve games towards the end of last season and youāve got no place to hide in terms of fitness because itās all on heart rate monitors. If youāre not working hard enough then the coaches will pull you up on it.
On how heās improved as a player in his two years at St Andrews Stadium, he added: āI think they just built me up [to be] structurally better to play the game. Iām probably in the best shape of my life right now. Iāve still got my pace and Iām sure that Iāll be able to get a few goals.ā
