Star striker visits young fan at school

23 December 2015

Stags’ striker Matt Green made a local student’s dreams come true after a surprise visit at his school recently.

The year eight students at local specialist school Beech Academy have been working hard on their English projects which involves writing letters to help advance their literacy skills.

With the range of recipients varying from Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to the Cadbury World Headquarters, one young boy named Lewis decided he would send his letter to the Stags – and more specifically, to Matt Green.

With chairman John Radford eager to give pupil Lewis Lambert a day he would never forget, he asked Matt to visit the school to thank the young fan for his kind letter, and the striker was more than happy to oblige.

Adrian O’Malley, Head Teacher of Beech Academy said: “It’s absolutely fantastic that Matt Green has taken the time out to come and see the students.

“They’ve worked really hard on their projects and I think it’s really good for a professional football club to show their support to a local school.”

Green spent around an hour chatting to the students and also played football with the youngsters in the school's playground.
