Stags face Sunderland in FA Youth Cup tonight

18 December 2015

Mansfield Town youth team welcome Barclays Under 18 Premier League side Sunderland tonight at One Call Stadium (7pm). Here is all you need to know ahead of the game.

TEAM NEWS:

Stags’ youth team boss John Dempster will be without Surafel Behailu for approximately two months with a broken collarbone, while Tyler Johal is unavailable due to being cup-tied.

Long term absentees Tom Slone, Adam Bishop and Corbin Shires are also still unavailable for selection.

After being involved with the U21 side in recent weeks, Sunderland duo Andrew Nelson and Daniel Wright should make a return to the squad for the FA Youth Cup clash.

Youth team boss Elliott Dickman will be without striker Josh Maja, however, with the forward side-lined with a back injury.

RECENT FORM:

Mansfield come into the tie on quite the high after winning three games on the bounce. After knocking Dereham Town out of the FA Youth Cup in the second round, back-to-back league wins against Oldham and
Grimsby have propelled them to the top of the league.

Last time out they defeated struggling Grimsby Town 1-0, with Cameron Healey’s first-half header settling the match.

After a number of postponements, including the Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle, the Black Cats were last in action on 28 November.

On that day they rescued a point away at Stoke City, with Elliot Embleton on hand to net the equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

MATCH OFFICIALS:

Tonight’s referee is Robert Sherwood and his assistants will be Edward Stapleton and Daniel Jarvis. The fourth official for the fixtures is Matthew Bacon.

MATCH ADMISSION:

Adults: £3

Concessions: £1

Entry can be gained via the first turnstile of the Ian Greaves Stand, closest to the Quarry Lane End. Programmes will also be available at the turnstile, at a cost of 50p.
