21 August 2015

A comprehensive guide to tomorrow's match at home to Oxford United (3pm)

TEAM NEWS:

Stags’ manager Adam Murray could welcome striker Matt Green back into his squad for the visit of Oxford, after the frontman missed Tuesday’s game at Accrington with a back problem.

Michael Appleton, Oxford United manager, has a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of the trip to One Call Stadium.

RECENT FORM:

Stags are looking to bounce back from Tuesday night’s defeat at Accrington Stanley after Sean McConville’s solitary goal was enough to consign Stags to their first loss of the season.. Previously, the Stags won their local derby against Notts County and earned an opening-day draw against Carlisle United.

The U’s have enjoyed an unbeaten start to their Sky Bet League Two campaign, drawing their first two against Crawley and Luton, before beating Notts County 3-1 in midweek. Michael Appleton's men also triumphed over Championship side Brentford 4-0 in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

Stags won one and lost one against the U’s last season; the win coming at One Call Stadium thanks to a late goal from Adam Murray after a Danny Hylton penalty had cancelled out Ryan Tafazolli’s opener.

Prior to last season, the Stags’ most recent victory over the U’s came in 2006. A goal from Danny Reet was enough to give the Stags all three points in a season when the Stags did the double over their League Two counterparts.

OVERALL RECORD: WON 12, DREW 4, LOST 14
