Preview: Notts County v Stags

14 August 2015

Your comprehensive guide to this evening’s local derby against Notts County.

TEAM NEWS:

Mansfield are sweating on the fitness of striker Matt Green ahead of tonight’s game, as he took a knock prior to Tuesday’s Capital One Cup fixture against Sheffield Wednesday. The only other absentee from Adam Murray’s squad is Lee Collins, who has been out for both of the Stags’ opening two fixtures.

Notts County will be without both Mawouna Amevor and Gill Swerts due to suspension. Amevor was dismissed during Notts’ 2-1 win in the Capital One Cup against Huddersfield for deliberate handball, while Swerts was sent off for violent conduct in the Magpies’ opening-day win at Stevenage.

RECENT FORM:

The Stags will be looking to build on their opening-day draw with Carlisle United.

County meanwhile have enjoyed a 100% start to the season, scoring four goals in the process, after beating Stevenage 2-0 and Huddersfield (Capital One Cup) 2-1 in mid-week.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

The sides most previous meeting was in last season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round where the Nottingham side ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Ronan Murray and Jake Cassidy.

Preceding last season’s game, the clubs last met back in the 2007/2008 campaign when they played out a 0-0 draw at Meadow Lane after Stags won 2-0 in the fixture in Mansfield.

OVERALL RECORD: Won: 14, Draw: 13, Lost: 17
