Preview: Accrington vs Stags

17 August 2015

All you need to know ahead of the Stags’ trip to Accrington Stanley.

TEAM NEWS:

Adam Murray’s squad is in good shape ahead of the journey to Lancashire on Tuesday evening. Only Lee Collins is missing after the Stags got through Friday’s game against Notts County unscathed.

Although manager John Coleman hasn’t yet ruled him out completely, striker Terry Gornell is a doubt for tomorrow’s game after receiving a kick to the ankle at Morecambe and being replaced at half time. Shay McCartan is hoping to be back in training this week after breaking his wrist but will miss out tomorrow.

RECENT FORM:

Mansfield are looking to secure back-to-back wins for the first time since March following Friday’s derby win against Notts County.

The Stags face tough opposition in Accrington who will be eager to register their first win of the season in this SkyBet League Two Fixture. After drawing at home to Luton Town in their first game, Stanley were knocked out of the Capital One Cup to Championship side Hull City on penalties following a 2-2 draw after extra time. They then returned to league action with a local derby of their own, losing out 1-0 to Morecambe at the Globe Arena.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

The most recent meeting between the two sides was last season’s final game in which Accrington ran out 2-1 winners after goals from Seamus Conneely and Terry Gornell cancelled out Jamie McGuire’s opener.

The win for Stanley completed a season double for the Lancashire side following a 1-0 win at One Call Stadium in October of last year thanks to a Luke Joyce penalty.
