Mansfield Town will enter the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at the First Round stage after the competition organises confirmed which teams will receive byes for Round One earlier this morning.
As in previous years, the early stages of the competition are regionalised and then sub-regionalised and our team have been placed in the North-East section.
The four ‘North-East’ teams who will advance directly to Round Two are Bradford City, Chesterfield, Rochdale and York City.
Our possible opponents for the First Round are as follows: Barnsley, Burton Albion, Doncaster Rovers, Hartlepool United, Notts County, Sheffield United, Scunthorpe United.
First Round ties are scheduled to be played w/c 31 August.
The First Round draw will take place this Saturday (08 August) on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM programme.
