Youngsters lose in injury-time

22 April 2015

Stags surrender two-goal lead in defeat at Aggborough.

Our youth team endured a disappointing afternoon in the FCYA (Midland Division), as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers.

Things were going extremely well for the Stags as Conor Green opened the scoring with a bullet-header from a Rory Thomson corner, at the end of what was a tight and tentative first half, before Luke Thomas doubled the lead from the penalty spot shortly after the re-start.

However, Kidderminster weren’t done there and got back on level terms courtesy of two goals in the space of five minutes by George Forsyth and Joe Palmer.

At this point, the game looked all set to end in a draw, but deep into injury-time that changed when Tyler Higgins found the target with a curling strike from the edge of the area to give the hosts a 3-2 win.

Team: Bishop, Thomson, Danquah, Brownlie, Green, Hutchinson, Spencer, McLeod, L.Thomas (Gregory), Holloway, Hempshall.

Next up for our youngsters is a home game against Collingham in the H-K-L North Midlands League, which takes place at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium tomorrow night.
