Mansfield Town gear up for pyjama party

23 April 2015

Stags call for participation in charity moonlight walk.

First team players Martin Riley and Ricky Ravenhill swapped their football kits for onesies as they helped Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and John Eastwood Hospice launch their Mansfield Moonlight and Memories Walk, which will take place on Saturday 06 June.

Miss Mansfield, Jessica Boot, also joined the footballers to promote the event.

The 3.7 mile Mansfield Moonlight and Memories Walk starts at the One Call Stadium at 10.00pm. Participants will make their way around the residential streets before finishing back at the football club. Those taking on the night-time adventure will be treated to a midnight feast after the walk, with onsite DJ entertainment.

All funds raised at the event will be split between Rainbows and John Eastwood Hospice.

Including those from Nottinghamshire, Rainbows Hospice cares for 318 children and young people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses as well as supporting 249 bereaved families and 521 siblings. Through its outreach efforts into East Midlands paediatric oncology units, Rainbows Hospice is also caring for a growing number of the region’s children with cancer.

Katie Baxter, community and events manager at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People said: “This is the second time we have held an event like this in the town and we want as many people in Mansfield to join us for this moonlight adventure.

“Tell all of your friends and relatives to grab their PJs and join us for what promises to be a fun evening,” she continued.

Diane Humphreys, trust manager at John Eastwood Hospice added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Rainbows Hospice. This is a fantastic opportunity for people in our local community to come together for this major event and show their support for our vital work.”

Client experience manager Lesley Thornton from Citipost Mail, one of the event sponsors, said: “We are happy to participate in and contribute to local initiatives that improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work.”

Entry is ÂŁ10 with a minimum sponsorship target of ÂŁ20. For more information, please contact 0800 9521133, e-mail fundraising@rainbows.co.uk or visit www.rainbows.co.uk/mansfieldwalk.
