Development Squad sign off with victory

23 April 2015

Spirited second half showing is far too much for Collingham.

Our development squad ended their H-K-L North Midlands League campaign with a deserved 3-1 victory over Collingham at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium.

David Jones opened the scoring early on when he converted a rebound after Corbin Shires’ effort was saved by the ‘keeper, but the visitors got back on level terms before the half-time break.

The Stags turned on the style in the second half, however, and regained the lead thanks to a goal by debutant Tom Marriott.

Any hopes that Collingham harboured about a comeback were extinguished in the closing stages when the prolific Ollie Roome found the target for the 16th time this season.

On another positive, those to impress included goalkeeper Frazer Hampson, who made two or three impressive saves at crucial points in the game.

Team: Hampson, Gregory (Blades), Holmes, Punter, Saxton, Shires (Chavundura), Blake, Groves (Roome), Marriott, Jones, Dwyer.
