Preview: Exeter City vs Mansfield Town

5 September 2014

Everything you need to know ahead of our Sky Bet League Two clash with Exeter City at St James' Park...

TEAM NEWS:

Manager Paul Cox will be without defenders Luke Jones and John Dempster for the trip to St James’ Park.

There is no update yet available on the fitness of full-back Liam Marsden, who limped off in the closing stages of the midweek defeat at Notts County in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

New signing Rakish Bingham could be included in the squad for his debut. The 20-year-old put pen-to-paper on a deal with us on transfer deadline day.

RECENT FORM:

The Stags go into this match in 16th position in Sky Bet League Two, having accumulated six points from their first five matches.

Paul Cox’s team slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion in their last outing, and also lost their last away league match – 2-0 at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday 23 August.

Exeter City, meanwhile, are yet to register their first victory this term and currently occupy 21st position in Sky Bet League Two with just two points.

The Grecians unluckily slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Northampton Town last weekend courtesy of a superb acrobatic late winner from Marc Richards.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

In the last meeting between the two teams, which was back in January, Lee Stevenson’s strike on the stroke of the half-time interval secured an important 1-0 win for Mansfield Town.

The reverse fixture at One Call Stadium finished in a 0-0 draw.

Our full record against Exeter City is as follows: Played 55, Won 19, Drew 17, Lost 19.
