Evtimov enjoying life at Stags

‘Keeper happy after keeping first clean-sheet for us in midweek.

Bulgarian goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov is hoping to build on keeping his first clean-sheet for the club, by producing another fine display when we entertain Carlisle United on Saturday.

In our victory over Morecambe on Tuesday, the youngster showed exceptional ability to palm away a dipping 20-yard volley by Aaron McGowan – a save which proved absolutely crucial by the full-time whistle.

He said: "It was the perfect response [to us losing at Wycombe Wanderers]. The team responded really well. We played really hard and I think we deserved to win.

"We need a little bit of consistency and a little bit of luck too. Like we saw on Tuesday, we had this little bit of luck that came in the last few minutes and if we keep going like that I think the success will come.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s tie with struggling Carlisle, Evtimov continued: "Sometimes it might be the best time to play them, sometimes it might be the worst, but this league is very equal.

“You never really know, you might win against the top teams and you might lose against the bottom teams. It's going to be a hard game."

On loan with us until the New Year from Sky Bet Championship pace-setters Nottingham Forest, Evtimov is also keen to impress those at his parent club.

“Some of the staff members are always coming to the games, so they are always keeping an eye on me,” said the Bulgarian youth international.

“They are always coming to me after the games and asking me ‘What do you reckon?’ and ‘How did you do?’ Also, they are telling me that they are reporting.

“I’m delighted that I’m getting more games and it will help my experience. Hopefully, I will contribute to the team's success as well.”
