Home comforts for young Stags

13 October 2014

Youngsters on home soil in three competitions this week.

Our youth team and development squad are in action three times on home soil this week.

On Wednesday, our youth team go head-to-head with Guiseley in the Preliminary Round of the Football Conference Youth Alliance (League Cup) at Kirklington Road, Rainworth (2.00pm).

If scores are level at full-time, the match will be decided by a penalty shoot-out. No extra-time will be played.

The Stags will be keen to better their efforts from last term when they reached the Third Round of the competition.

On Thursday, our development squad can cement their position in the upper echelons of the H-K-L North Midlands League if they beat Collingham at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium, Clipstone (7.45pm).

The Stags moved joint-top of the division with a 4-1 triumph at Espial last week, but this will be another testing match as third-placed Collingham have lost just twice this season.

The week then concludes with a game against Rotherham United in the Football League Youth Alliance (North/East Division) at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium, Clipstone, on Saturday (11.00am).

Our young guns will be determined to gain revenge on the Millers for a penalty shoot-out defeat in the Football League Youth Alliance Cup back in August.

All three matches offer intrigue and excitement for different reasons, so get behind our stars of the future this week.
