Douglas and Bridge goals see off Bilbrook Ladies.
Our ladies team showed remarkable courage, spirit and endeavour as they overcame a half-time deficit to beat Bilbrook Ladies, 2-1, in the Women’s FA Cup at One Call Stadium this afternoon. The visitors took the lead on the stroke of the interval, but Mike Wain’s team regrouped and got back on level terms shortly after the re-start courtesy of a fine strike by the ever-impressive Jemma Douglas.
Skipper Stacey Bridge then led by example as she guided home a header in the dying minutes to deservedly book the Stagettes’ place in the next round.
Team: Gascoyne, Davis (Unthank), Walton, Bridge (C), Braithwaite (Hard), Pridden (Potter), Bodle, Gelson, Webster, Douglas, Flood.
Our ladies will be hoping to transfer this spirit into their FA Women’s Premier League (Midland Division One) match with Leicester City Ladies next weekend.
