Defender Ritchie Sutton wants our side to produce a good display and achieve a positive result at Bristol Rovers on Saturday, to signal our intentions for next term.
The 28-year-old has been one of our most consistent players this season â racking up 38 appearances and thus becoming a key figure in our three-man defence.
We travel to the Memorial Stadium on the back of two straight defeats, but a victory â coupled with results elsewhere â could relegate Bristol Rovers to the Conference Premier.
âItâs going to be a very tough game for us, but the main thing is that we need to finish our season on a high,â said Sutton.
âWe donât want to be going in to the close-season feeling disappointed. We need to show that we know weâve got a good chance of pushing for the Play-Offs or promotion next season.
âI think if we get a good result on Saturday, itâs good for the fans, because it gives them something to think about [over the summer].
âSo whether it sends them down or not, weâll be looking to win the game.â
Reflecting on the campaign as a whole, Sutton continued: âWe set our standards high at the beginning of the season so when we had that dip of not winning for 13 games, if we could have just picked up a couple [more] points there, weâd have been in good stead and fighting for the Play-Offs.
âWeâve got to learn from that, get the consistency for next season, and I think weâll be right up there.â
Sutton, who has made 101 league appearances since joining us on a free transfer three years ago, is also keen to extend his stay at One Call Stadium.
He added: âI want to get something sorted as soon as possible. The gaffer knows Iâm happy here and itâs where I want to play my football, so hopefully we can get something sorted and Iâll be strong next season.â
