There is just three weeks to go until ‘Team MTFC’ get on their bikes and cycle from London to Amsterdam and they need your support.

‘Team MTFC,’ which will be led by chairman John Radford, includes Mark Stevenson (Head of Media & Communications), Stuart Eggleshaw (Scoreboard Operator), Doug Carroll (aka ‘Sammy the Stag’) and forward Ben Hutchinson.

On Friday 06 June, the group will begin their epic 150-mile cyclathon as they depart from Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium and pedal through the rural Suffolk countryside to Harwich.

After travelling overnight by ferry to the Netherlands, ‘Team MTFC’ will battle against fatigue to ride a further 60 miles to their destination, the Amsterdam Arena, which is home to the world-famous AFC Ajax.

The cyclathon has been arranged by the Football League as part of the ‘Men United vs Prostate Cancer’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the deadly illness.

This gruelling bike ride will also represent the next chapter in an incredible personal journey for ‘Team MTFC’ member Stuart Eggleshaw, who was last week named as Slimming World’s Greatest Loser 2014.

During the past 18 months, the 43-year-old, from Kirkby-in-Ashfield, has lost a whopping 22st 9lbs and has completely changed his once unhealthy lifestyle.

Stuart now cycles approximately 40 miles per week on average, and took part in a triathlon in Ashbourne last weekend, which he completed in an impressive 1hr, 22mins, 35secs.
