Our youth team remain three points clear at the top of the FCYA (Midland Division), despite suffering their first loss of the season against Boston United this afternoon.
Trovarn Thompson scored twice to put us in control, but the battling Pilgrims never gave up and eventually won 3-2 courtesy of Brad Easey’s strike on 76 minutes.
Scores were level 1-1 at half-time as Thompson’s headed opener from Joe Harrison’s wicked corner on the half-hour mark was cancelled out by a strike from Liam Moran just a minute later.
Thompson restored our lead shortly after the re-start when he produced a low finish following Billy Simpson’s low through ball, but Boston came roaring back – this time as Leon Squires quickly levelled.
The Pilgrims always looked dangerous on the break and snatched all three points when Corey Newman floated in inch-perfect left-wing cross towards the near-post, where Easey converted.
Our youngsters almost made it 3-3 deep into added time as Luke Thomas, Wisdom Asare and Thompson all had chances amidst a frantic goalmouth scramble, but Boston held on to earn the win.
Team: Fell, Simpson, Marsden, Asare, Hodgett-Young, Harrison (Hodge), Hutchinson (Harrison), J.Thomas, Banton, Roome (L.Thomas), Thompson.
